Gerardo Antonio Chica, II, MD was born in Panama City, Panama. He completed his bachelor’s degree at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and went on to Texas Tech University, where he earned his medical degree.

With an eye toward a career in nephrology, Dr. Chica completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He then went on to complete a fellowship in nephrology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.

Dr. Chica is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology, and he’s an active member of the American Society of Nephrology, the National Kidney Foundation and the Texas Medical Association.

He’s fluent in written and spoken Spanish
