Rajeev Narayan, MD, is board-certified in nephrology and internal medicine at San Antonio Kidney Disease Center Physicians Group in Texas. Specializing in both nephrology and vascular access, he works out of our Southwest Clinic and our Vascular Access Center.
Dr. Narayan received his bachelor’s degree in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology from University of California, Los Angeles, and then attended the Chicago Medical School, where he received both a master’s in physiology and pathology, as well as a doctorate in medicine. Crossing the Pacific, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, followed by a fellowship in nephrology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He worked as Assistant Chief in the nephrology department and as Dialysis Director at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, prior to joining SAKDC.
Dr. Narayan has an impressive background serving as a doctor in the armed forces. He served in the US military as a physician in Iraq, where he supported Operation Iraqi Freedom in the 21st Combat Support Hospital. He earned an Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service in combat theater for his work in Iraq. He also served in the Critical Care department in the 121st General Military Hospital in South Korea, which earned him an Army Commendation Medal for excellence in patient care.
He is currently Chairperson of the Communications Committee of the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology and presents research at many nephrology conferences throughout the year. He is dedicated to serving his patients.
