Insurance and Billing

SA Kidney contracts with most major health plans, in addition to Medicare and Medicaid. As a service to our patients, we file claims for payment with our patients’ primary and secondary insurances.It is important that you bring your insurance card(s) with you to each visit. Patients are responsible for the payment of any applicable copays and/or deductibles prior to each office visit.

SA Kidney strives to accurately charge for all services rendered. If a patient believes that a billing error been made, we urge them to contact our Billing Compliance Officer at (210) 481-7453.

SA Kidney participates in a variety of major health plans including Medicare and Medicaid. Please call our business office at (210) 481-7453 to confirm we participate in your health plan.

WellMed Patients

Starting Jan. 1, 2026, Primary care providers (PCPs) will be required to issue referrals for HMO and HMO-POS plan members delegated to WellMed before accessing specialist services. PCPs must issue referrals through the LeadingReach platform to the specialist.
