Dr. Meghana Chalasani recently moved to Texas and is proud to join the San Antonio Kidney Physicians Group. Her husband Dr. James Steves is a native of San Antonio and together they are delighted to join the medical community.
Dr. Chalasani was born in India, relocated to the United States, and spent her formative years in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She earned a bachelors degree in Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University and later a medical degree from American University of Antigua. She then returned to Baton Rouge for her internal medicine residency at the LSU Baton Rouge program. During residency Dr. Chalasani found her mentor and her love for nephrology. She moved to Salt Lake City to pursue fellowship at the University of Utah where she was honored to be chief fellow in her second year. Dr. Chalasani is a member of the American Society of Nephrology and has been published in Kidney International. In 2019 she was awarded the outstanding poster award at the National Kidney Foundation Spring Clinical Meeting in Boston. Dr. Chalasani cares deeply about providing care for the under served and volunteered as a staff nephrologist at the Maliheh Free Clinic in Millcreek, Utah. She is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology.
In her spare time Dr. Chalasani enjoys spending time with her husband, their children, and two beloved dogs. She is excited to begin a new chapter in Texas and looks forward to serving the people of San Antonio. Dr. Chalasani is accepting patients at the Medical Center location.
